South Carolina Annual Research Symposium

Unlike our regular annual conference the South Carolina Annual Research Symposium (SCARS) is a smaller-scale and much more casual affair open just to faculty (of any rank) affiliated with a SC institution or who are otherwise based in SC. The tone is relaxed and papers presented can be in any stage of development, including very preliminary or exploratory stages. SCARS usually takes place sometime in August. The goal is both to get feedback on early-stage projects and to cultivate collegiality and connections amongst SC philosophers. Presentations can take any form and are open to any areas of scholarship, including topics pertaining to philosophy pedagogy, public philosophy, or institutional issues that affect philosophy.
